Future Tense

This type of tenses is used to express what we have intended or decided to do in the future.

  E.g

1) I will celebrate my birthday in ten days time.

You can see that in the above example “I will celebrate my birthday in ten days time” it as not happen yet or take place, but I have decided or intended that I will mark my birthday in ten days That is, the celebration as not taken place but will take place in ten days time (that is, in the future).top↑

Other words that are associated with future tense are, to be and going to, etc.

Types Of Future Tense

a] Simple future tense :is used to express an action that has been decided at present which will occur in the future. E.g
(1)Am going back to school next month.

In the above sentence, before I could say that am going back to school next month that means I have decided it in the past, that is, the present,top↑

What am saying is this, assuming today is Monday and I said that I want to return back to school next week, that means I have decided on Monday or before Monday that I will be going back to school next week.

Other words associated with Simple Future tenses are Next year, from now on, this weekend, tomorrow, next month tonight and in future, etc.

b] Future continuous tense : is used to express an action that will progressively take place in future.

That is, the action will continue to take place in the future.top↑

E.g

1) I will be at campus at this time tomorrow.

2) At this time next month, I will be 15 years old.

Note : you might be thinking that it should be by this time not at this time, No by this time is a Future Perfect Tense, I will explain better when will get to Future Perfect Tense.

You can see that in the above sentence, the specific time was not stated but around the time, and you can also see that the time stated was in progress.

Other words associated with Future Continuous Tense are, at this time,  when, and until.

c] Future perfect tense : is used to express an action that will happen in the future and ended or completed in the future.top↑

E.g

1) I will be starting school by 2017 and graduated by 2021.

You can see that none of the sentence above as occurred because we are still in 2016 and you can see that in the above sentence, the time that the action will begins was stated and also the time that it will ended.

Other words associated with Future Perfect Tense are,  by next week, by next year, by next month, by this time and by next weekend, etc.

d] Future perfect continuous tense : it is used to express an action that will be progressive in future around a specific time.top↑

E.g

1) I will be at the restaurant around 2 O’clock.

In the sentence above, you can see that, the he/she didn’t say that he/she will be at the restaurant at exactly 2 O’clock but around (progressive or continuously) 2 O’clock.

Other words associated with Future Perfect Continuous Tense are, the whole time and for three hours, etc.
